Safe + Sound Week will be held August 15-21, 2022 and all are welcome to participate. This nationwide event offers information and ideas focused on keeping America’s workers safe. It is an excellent opportunity to recognize your organization’s commitment to safety and health, build upon your current safety program or start the process of developing your own safety and health program.
Keep in mind the core elements to a good safety and health program include; management leadership, worker participation, hazard identification and assessment, hazard prevention and control, education and training, program evaluation and improvement, and communication and coordination for employers on multi-employer worksites. Don’t get overwhelmed if you are building a safety program from scratch. It is wise to start with a basic program tailored to your company and evolve to a more in depth, detailed program over time. Making an investment in a safety and health program has a multitude of advantages, mainly involving the health, safety and well-being of your employees. Being proactive in your approach to safety by finding and fixing hazards before they cause injury or illness, properly training your employees and creating a strong safety culture leads to reduced workplace injuries and illnesses, increased productivity, cost savings, and improved employee morale.
