What is the NCCCO?
The NCCCO or the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators was formed in 1995 with the mission to develop effective performance standards for those who work in and around load handling equipment. Their certification programs are designed to ensure employees working with load handling equipment are skilled and knowledgeable.
NCCCO programs are accredited by ANSI (American National Standards Institute) and are officially recognized by OSHA.
Why get NCCCO certified?
- According to OSHA regulation 29 CFR 1926.1427, all crane operators in construction must be nationally certified and must be re-tested every 5 years. There are several other national organizations that have been approved to test candidates, but NCCCO is the most recognized program in the industry.
- Certified Crane Operators have expanded job opportunities. There is expected growth in the construction industry and certified crane operators are in high demand. The NCCCO certification is valid for 5 years. It is also transportable, meaning you can take it from employer to employer.
- When you are NCCCO certified, there is a reduced risk of accidents and incidents.
- The NCCCO certification process reviews the knowledge and skills to safely work in and around load handling equipment.
